Statement –
As many have now witnessed, Cymorth Llaw recently took part in the BBC investigation programs Week in Week Out and Panorama that both aired on BBC 1’s prime time viewing slot of 20:30, in Wales and the wider U.K. on Monday the 20th March.
Cymorth Llaw Care Workers, Managers and Directors appeared on film to inform the public of the issues and challenges we all face when working within the private domiciliary care market, with both programs giving a very real insight into what life is like at the sharp end of service provision within the home care industry in the U.K today.
Company Director Ken Hogg also appeared on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 5live, with Founder and Managing Director Janice Hogg appearing on BBC Radio Cymru.
All programs have been extremely well received.
Historically, Cymorth Llaw has never been an organisation that seeks the spotlight or recognition for the care it provides.
It continues to be the motivations of this company to provide the best level of care, help and support it possibly can, whilst also being a fair, reasonable and responsible employer to the many people who work with us.
Indeed, our care organisation has delivered services to both Adults and Children within North Wales for 16 years and during that time has achieved 16 consecutive outstanding service inspection reports, without service improvement recommendation what so ever, from the governing body CSSIW – one for every year of service delivery.
With this in mind and at the request of the BBC who asked to work with a leading care provider in Wales, to investigate ‘the Real Cost of Care’ Cymorth Llaw agreed to take part in the programs, to give an honest and open appraisal of the sector.
On behalf of the directors of Cymorth Llaw I would like to thank everyone who took part in the programs. Your contributions showed to millions of people just how important all home care workers up and down the country are and, the vital role they play within Health & Social Care moving forward.
The role and of a care worker often goes unreported or misrepresented. We feel that those people in the U.K providing essential services that allow people to remain at home in a safe and dignified manner are the real heros of care and Cymorth Llaw would like to take this opportunity to thank you all sincerely for what you do.
We hope that our small contribution will help to raise awareness and give home care the recognition and status we feel it certainly deserves.
In light of the programs findings, we now ask that those persons responsible for making key decisions in terms of policy and funding of home care services, to now be more considerate of the facts presented and reflect deeply on the examples shown in the programs.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the hundreds of messages, emails and phone calls of support from well wishers, social commentators, reporters and broadcasters alike. We are very humbled and flattered by what has been written, reported and said about Cymorth Llaw in recent days.
Thank you most of all to every single person who wears our yellow uniforms and who continue to deliver exceptional care to many, many people at home. We have said it countless times before – we believe you are the best local people providing the best local care and we thank you for making a difference to so many lives.
Craig Hogg
